Where Should we Look at?
Recently a good friend (thank you) brought to my attention the following Q. Ka'bah is our qiblah. So we face to that direction while performing salah. But the eyes' direction should still be toward the place of prostration.
That got me thinking. I've read somewhere that we should look at the Ka'bah. But I better check it again :-)
So I asked an ustaz about this. He said looking at the Ka'bah may distract us because of the many people in front. So we should look at the place of prostration. That's the default anyway.
Here's a good, more elaborate answer (enter the code: 2IMX3), whose conclusion is as follows:
Therefore, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) looked at the Ka`bah when he was offering the Prayer [in Masjidil Haram]. Based on this, one should see for himself. If looking at the Ka`bah will distract his concentration, he should look at the place of prostration. If he is sure that looking at the Ka`bah will not distract his attention, there is nothing wrong in doing that.
Wallahu'alam. It's always good to learn, listen to opinions and different understandings, but must always have the authentic dalil.
May Allah give us true, beneficial knowledge.. Rabbi zidni 'ilma (Ta Ha /20: 114)
