May Allah Bless Her Soul

Tuesday, March 1 2005. 1 week after coming back home.

That morning I received the sad news that one of our room-mates in Makkah/Madinah departed this life before Fajr that day.

I called Mak di kampung to convey the news. We both cried on the phone.

Faizah was sick most of the time in Makkah and Madinah. After Mina, she was hospitalized at the Tabung Haji hospital in Azziziah as well as one of the Saudi's hospitals. She was eventually discharged but spent most of the time in bed. Her mother, Makcik Hendon, was always there for her. I'm lousy at attending to the sick, the most I did was helped her get into the bathroom. Maybe I should have done more.

Whenever I faced some inconveniences or was annoyed or got tired, I looked at Faizah, and the feelings went away. It sure was harder for her but she hardly complained and took it all in stride. May Allah reward her for the patience.

Anyway, we had expected her to get better once we're back home.

That day my brother Pakcu was still on leave, so he paid a visit to the family. When he arrived, they were performing the funeral prayer, lead by her husband, Rashid. That's touching. I wish I'll have a husband who would be able to do that if I go first.

According to Rashid, the late Faizah passed away at the Subang Jaya Medical Center. She was in just for check-up and monitoring, and the night before she was pretty well. But when her time came, her body collapsed and the revival effort was futile.

"Surely, Allah takes what's His, and what He gives is His, and to all things He has appointed a time.. so have patience and be rewarded. May Allah forgive the departed."

We will all die. She died just after coming back from the Hajj trip. May she meet Allah clean and pure, and may Allah bless her.

She had asked me to email her photos I took in Makkah and Madinah. I had not managed to do that in time :-(
