Masjid Nabawi

Both Masjidil Haram and Masjid Nabawi have the doors numbered, and most of them named as well. Unlike in Masjidil Haram, doors in the other masjid are designated exclusive for either the men or the women.

It was very exciting to get to the doors of the masjid - I reminded myself to capture the feelings I felt as I walked through the 'Umar Ibn Al-Khattab gate into an area for women in Masjid Nabawi. It was woaw..

The women area was very crowded. There were many people who settled near the door, blocking others to get in. (Understandably, some of those are the elderly). There were unbelievably a lot of empty spaces at the very front, just behind the partition wall. Walking through the packed packed packed crowd was challenging, it could take almost 30 minutes. Luckily there were many strict ushers helping the people. They clapped and called out even in Indon-Malay "Ibu! Ibu! Maju, maju!"

We got a nice spot at the front. After salah, they opened up the "roof window". It was magical watching as it was opening, right above us, just like we saw on TV. Mak cried, maybe she's thankful, or still couldn't believe, that we were actually there.

That became our favorite spot in the masjid. It's especially wonderful when the window was opened after Maghrib, and we saw the crescent on the right of the frame... moving slowly to the left, and by the time Isya' was over, it was on the opposite side of the frame.

A good part about having enclosed areas for women was that whenever I got sleepy while waiting for the time of the prayer, I could take a quick nap lying down. We couldn't decently do that in Masjidil Haram!

And there was ample supply of Zamzam water in Masjid Nabawi! We had thought that we wouldn't see those water containers anymore. It was great to know that we had another 8 days of continuous supply of Zamzam water.

After salah, as we got out of the masjid, there was always large crowd of people outside of the women doors. The men were waiting for the women under their care, and the groups of women were waiting for the rest of the members. Alhamdulillah, it was always swift for us as I took care of mother only, and occasionally just Makcik as well.
